Lid,on hinges,opens to show a holder underneath for your own 6″ x 4″ photo. Inner compartment is 8 7/8″ x 8 7/8″ x 4″,allowing box to hold a variety of different items. Overall outer box size,with lid closed,is 9 3/8″ x 9 3/8″ x 5″. Box is MDF wood.
